How to read a plug-in solar product listing

The claims, documents and missing details to check before following a retailer link.

The short answer

Look beyond the headline wattage. A useful listing identifies the complete UK device, its connection lead, mounting, inverter, instructions, warranty and evidence against the current specification.

Separate the headline from the specification

Panel capacity, inverter output and yearly generation are different quantities. Record each separately so an “800W” title does not hide what the number describes.

Check the whole kit

  • Exact panel and inverter models.
  • Approved UK plug and supplied lead.
  • Included mounting for your chosen location.
  • Complete-device conformity documents.
  • UK support, returns and warranty responsibility.

Treat gaps as decisions, not small print

If the seller cannot identify the exact UK configuration or supporting evidence, pause. Stock availability and a familiar brand do not establish compliance.
